Juntas Potrerillos

AT-PAC DOKA Design and Engineering – Scaffolding module for work and joint supports in pipelines.

Project Type:

Mining

Project Location:

Chile

Project Summary:

Codelco, a national mining company, for its Potrerillos smelter, located in the Atacama region (northern Chile), has requested a scaffolding solution from our client which would allow safe and reliable removal of the connection joints in 3 ducts of its production line (5 joints), and that, in addition, the same scaffolding structure would function as a collection and reception point for 2 of these joints for later replacement.

Customer Challenges:

Among the different scaffolding solutions, the heights vary between 10 meters to 28 meters in height, a solution which must overcome a confined space in addition to the interference present on the ground.

AT-PAC Solution:

The delivered solution contemplated a personalized study for each of the joints to be removed, 5 in total, adapting to each interference, level difference and work condition presented on site, for which RINGLOCK material was selected for its versatility and adaptability. For the structures in which only the removal of the joints was worked on, these were designed with light solutions, allowing work levels only in the cutting areas, and generating specific accesses with Platforms with Hatch Deck Stairs, this allowed a rapid assembly, quick access and a clean and flexible solution to the field conditions. For the solution with joint support, a specific study was carried out in which the loads to be received were considered, both from the replacement joints, the work personnel and the machinery for the works, generating a safe and resistant level of work for activities, structurally reinforcing with bridge and diagonal beams. All the solutions presented contemplate a design engineering presented through planimetry with 3D modulations, in addition to a structural verification through analysis and supported by means of calculation memories and constant field support with the aim of solving quickly and effectively mounting conditions and difficulties.

Impact:

The level of detail of the engineering delivered, allowed a reduction in both assembly times and an optimization in the amount of material sent to the field, avoiding additional charges for unused material.
